Dakot has more than 40 years experience in the development and manufacture of high technology industrial ceramics. Applications range from wear, thermal and chemical resistant shapes for the mineral, metallurgical, and electricity generating industries, to micro-porous spheres for medical applications. As a spill-over of our bioceramic bead making technology, Dakot developed a process for large scale manufacturing of dense, tough ceramic micro grinding media used for ultrafine grinding in the mining and mineral processing industry.

The Dakot group of companies consists of CERDAK - a manufacturer of a wide range of CE marked micro-porous ceramic spheres as medical devices, and DMM - a producer of ceramic micro grinding media for the minerals processing industry in fine and ultra fine grinding applications. The DMM bead making process was specifically developed to meet local South African demand for ceramic micro grinding media with superior wear properties, produced in high volumes at low cost.  Though mainly supplying the local market, DMM also exports its high quality, affordable grinding media for use in stirred mills internationally.

For this purpose we have a well equipped research and development facility that runs a continuous program to develop and test new compositions, forming methods and material applications.
